THE ROLE

The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer is now hiring a Part Time Grocery Clerk to join our expanding specialty grocery team!

Grocery Clerks are responsible for maintaining stock levels, product quality, and display appearance in the grocery and dairy departments, as well as providing an exemplary customer service experience.

• Merchandise products to maximize sales, customer satisfaction, and complement overall store appearance.
• Consistently provide excellent service to all customers.
• Gain product and supplier knowledge in order to better serve customers.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all displays and backstock areas.
• Effectively face, date check, and rotate product to minimize product loss.
• Assist in the building and maintenance of grocery displays.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• Preference given for retail customer service experience or previous grocery experience.
• The ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
• A flair for organization and order in your surroundings.
• The physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for long periods of time, work in a cool environment, and lift 25-50 pounds.
• Open availability and a flexible schedule including Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday. 20 hours available weekly.

We are currently seeking a Part Time Deli Clerk to join our Root Cellar team! As a Deli Clerk in our Chop Shop team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and presentation of our curated selection of fresh and cured meats, artisan cheeses and delicious house made salads. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for great local food and providing exceptional customer service. Previous experience in the food industry is considered an asset, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude! 

• Serve customers from both the cured and fresh meat cases.
• Provide professional and attentive customer service.
• Accurately portion, pack, and label products for retail sale.
• Adhere to all food-handling and safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of in-house salads, sandwiches, and sauces.
• Gain product knowledge in order to advise customers on the best options to suit their needs.
• Uphold our standards for quality and freshness.

• The ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for long periods of time, work in a cool environment, and lift up to 50lbs.

• The ability to work well within a team.
• Previous retail/customer service experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude!
